Agnipath protests: ‘WhatsApp groups used to stoke riots in UP’

The police have arrested 72 more protesters across UP on Sunday for the violent agitation against Agniapath scheme even as they claimed that WhatsApp messages were circulated in Ballia, Deoria and Mirzapur to gather crowds and stoke violence. In all, 450 people have been arrested for violence and damaging public properties since the protests started. In Deoria’s Barhaj police station area, police vehicles were targeted by protesters.
